FOUNDERS
Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar was founded in 1991 by YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin (HRH Prince Naquiyuddin), Tunku Laxamana Negeri Sembilan, YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran (HRH Prince Imran) and YAM Tunku Dara (HRH Princess Dara) Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah. It was their inspiration to create a school in Malaysia which encapsulated the abiding strengths of a British-style boarding school.
YAM TUNKU NAQUIYUDDIN IBNI ALMARHUM TUANKU JA’AFAR

YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin received his education at the King’s School in Canterbury and read International Politics at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom (UK).
A former diplomat, YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin is presently the Chairman of Sino Hua-An, an international company with interests in China and Malaysia, having been Chairman of various other international corporations. YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin is a keen environmentalist and has been a committee member of the World Wide Fund for Nature (Malaysia).
YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin is a philanthropist and estimates that he spends 70% of his time on philanthropic work. He founded the charitable organisation Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin (YTN) in 1994 whose objectives are to provide financial and developmental assistance to needy individuals and institutions as well as to projects to improve teaching methodology especially in rural schools. Recently YTN adopted a Stop Dengue Mission to promote education and awareness on Dengue and on biolarviciding as the best way forward in eliminating this deadly menace.
YAM TUNKU TAN SRI IMRAN IBNI ALMARHUM TUANKU JA’AFAR

YAM Tunku Imran graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Honours) degree from Nottingham University, UK in 1970 and was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn in 1971. Tunku Imran has held senior management positions with various companies including Perbadanan Nasional Berhad and Haw Par (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd from 1971 to 1976. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Antah Group of Companies from 1976 until he stepped down at the end of February 2001. He currently sits as Chairman of Aluminium Company of Malaysia Berhad. YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran is also the President of Olympic Council of Malaysia, a member of the International Olympic Committee and President of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
YAM TUNKU DARA TUNKU TAN SRI NAQUIAH BINTI ALMARHUM TUANKU JA’AFAR

Tunku Dara studied in Malay Girls College, Kuala Lumpur before pursuing her studies in New York and London. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Political Science from the American University in Cairo. Upon returning to Malaysia, she began a successful Public Relations (PR) career during which she received a distinction for her Diploma in Public Relations from the Malaysian Institute of Public Relations (IPR) in 1971. She is a Director of Syarikat Pesaka Antah (SPA), Director of Hong Leong Industries Bhd and Syarikat Pendidikan Staffield Bhd.
Tunku Dara is actively involved in the Kuala Lumpur Speakers’ Club, which she helped found in 1970. Having established a Finishing School, she still conducts personal development courses on social etiquette, formal dining and Malaysian protocol. She is the Chairman of the English Speaking Union Malaysia (ESUM) and Chancellor of the International University College of Arts and Science (IUCAS). She has compiled 3 coffee table books entitled “Royal Album”, “The Malaysian Monarchy” and the “40th Ruby Jubilee”.
