BACKGROUND
Tun RazakUniversiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) was established on 18 December 1997 as one of the first private universities in Malaysia. The University was named after Malaysia’s second Prime Minister, the late YAB Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato’ Hussein, and officially launched on 21 December 1998 by Tun Abdul Razak’s eldest son, YAB Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, current Prime Minister of Malaysia and then Minister of Education. On 1 March 2007, Tun Abdul Razak Education Foundation (Yayasan PINTAR) acquired Universiti Tun Abdul Razak Sdn. Bhd. (owner of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak) from KUB Malaysia Berhad.
Since its inception, UNIRAZAK was among the first few private learning institutions in Malaysia to receive the SIRIM certification of ISO 9001:2000. Additionally, the University has been awarded the prestigious Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status, which is a testament to the University’s commitment to integrating technology and innovation in its teaching and learning techniques. UNIRAZAK has rapidly established itself as a premier centre for education in its efforts to produce competitive and capable graduates.
UNIRAZAK is highly accessible to the community. Its main City Campus is strategically located at CapSquare in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, between the Golden Triangle and the Central Business District, and is located next to an ICT mall, movie theatre, vibrant shopping hub, and many eating establishments. The strategic location also ensures that our students have easy access to various public transportation systems to and from UNIRAZAK’s City Campus.
As of 3 November 2012, UNIRAZAK has graduated more than 17,000 alumni, and prides itself in developing relevant programmes to meet today’s needs. All our academic programmes, which were developed through close consultation with business and industry partners, the public sector and professionals, are approved by the Malaysian Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) and are developed to meet the high standards required by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).
Presently under the auspices of the Tun Abdul Razak Educational Foundation (Yayasan PINTAR), UNIRAZAK is embarking on the next crucial phase of its growth. Its vision is to become the leading institution in providing quality education and human capital in niche areas among emerging economies. UNIRAZAK also intends to enhance its cooperation and collaborative networks through strategic alliances with top-ranking international universities, renowned in their respective fields.
As a result of its new vision and mission, UNIRAZAK has been acclaimed with top awards from several of Malaysia’s leading award-based organisations. These plaudits include two awards from the 2012 BrandLaureate Awards: Best Brands in Education – Tertiary and Best Brands in Brand Management, and winner of the ‘Quality College and University’ award from the 2nd International Standard Quality Award 2012. UNIRAZAK has also received the bronze award in the Putra Brand Awards 2011 (Education and Learning) category, Asia’s Best B-School Award 2011 (from CMO Asia) and Sahabat Negara SME Award 2011 (from SME Recognition Awards 2011).
In executing these plans, UNIRAZAK hopes to further boost its presence in the global education market, and at the same time, offer its students a higher quality of educational experience. By continuously striving for excellence, the University is well on its way in becoming an important educational institution in this country and the region. By delivering a world-class learning experience, UNIRAZAK aspires to be an institution that produces great thinkers who will become the accomplished leaders of tomorrow.
